Review of "Quantum Mechanics Demystified" by David McMahon
Let's start with the basics:
This is the second edition of a book aimed at plainly explaining a complex concept, loaded with high level mathematics and physics.
Good thing the author chooses to start from the basics the profane may understand:
Let's focus on this first page:
Do you see any shaded area? By the way, the visible spectrum is between 400 and 700 nm.
Let's move on, try to understand this page:
So, the author thinks that higher frequencies, in this plot, are towards the right!
Well, the author is WRONG: As the plot is in wavelength, the high frequencies are where the small wavelengths are, therefore to the left.
Or, maybe I got this wrong, let's check "The Internet":
Here is a nice chart from Georgia State University:
So, the high temperature peak does move to the left!
Let's move on, with the review ... or not:
If this first page did not cut your enthusiasm at being guided towards understanding Quantum Mechanics by this book, you are way more patient than I am.
Just ranting:
... and this is the second edition... Did anyone actually read the first edition?
