The Knowledge Organization
The scheme here below tries to capture the cycle of information and the relation between the culture of the organization and this cycle.
The scheme above should be self-explanatory but, as usually happens, it is more so once you know all about it. Here we go:
An organization that values knowledge ensures that the full information cycle (rather the information spiral) is continuously performed and that this thinking is deeply ingrained in the processes and in the culture of the organization:
- information - is what you obtain when you read the data
- knowledge - is what you obtain when you understand the information
- These actions listed here above are what the intelligent individuals typically do
- learned lesson - is what you obtain when you institutionalize the knowledge, meaning that the knowledge is captured, validated, stored and disseminated
- improvement - is what you obtain when you implement the learned lessons in your processes and/or in your products
- These actions listed here above are what the organizations that place an emphasis on continuous improvement do
- The mindful organizations manage to keep the intelligent individuals and the intelligent individuals prefer to make new and better mistakes, therefore they would ensure that the organization has a continuous improvement process in place
- data - is what you obtain when you observe the results and the performance of your processes and/or your products
